Anderson attended with her son, Brandon Thomas Lee, wearing a black Oscar de la Renta gown, coordinated opera gloves and Pandora jewelry. Marie Claire reported that she selected the pieces herself and quoted her saying, “No stylist, no glam team, just me.” Marie Claire’s Golden Globes coverage also reported that she did her own styling.
Harper’s Bazaar described her approach as makeup-free and reported that she used Sonsie Skin’s Ultimate Hydration duo—the Multi Moisture Mask and Super Serum—before the event. Why she chose to go without makeup
In a Harper’s Bazaar interview published January 7, Anderson explained the distinction between her makeup choice and her relationship with glamour: “I feel best these days without makeup but that doesn’t mean I don’t love being sophisticated, elegant, and glamorous.”

Marie Claire quoted her describing the choice as a way to challenge expectations in an industry focused on beauty: “There is beauty in self acceptance, imperfection, and love,” she said. She added, “I am much more comfortable in my own skin, but I also am in an industry that really focuses on beauty. And I thought, ‘I’m going to challenge beauty.’” These are her reasons for her own look, not a rule about what other people should wear.
The film nomination behind her appearance
Anderson was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture for Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. Harper’s Bazaar described it as her first Golden Globe nomination. The red-carpet appearance brought together a major career moment and a look she chose to style herself.

What “makeup-free” can mean for someone else
Anderson’s appearance is not a template for a single correct beauty routine. A person can choose to go without makeup, wear a minimal look or opt for full glam; stylist Natalie Tincher told the Associated Press in September 2025 that those choices belong to the individual. That AP feature offers general advice, not a description of Anderson’s routine. For a workday makeup-free approach, makeup artist Rebecca Robles recommended a gentle cleanser, vitamin C serum, moisturizer with sun protection, separate broad-spectrum sunscreen and glossy lip balm, with hydration and ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides also noted.
