Ozzy Osbourne announced Last Rites on 19 September 2025 as his final memoir, written in his own words. Its announced focus is the health crisis that disrupted his farewell-tour period and his determination to return to the stage for a final Birmingham performance.
What Ozzy Osbourne says Last Rites is about
Osbourne’s official announcement describes the book as a candid account of personal health battles and his effort to make it to Birmingham to play his final show and thank fans. The announcement calls the book a final memoir; it does not identify a separate interviewer or frame it as an interview.

The health crisis and the farewell-tour period
According to the official book description, Osbourne was 69 and on a farewell tour in 2018 when a finger infection led to hospitalization. The description says he then had to abandon the tour and public life while facing near-total paralysis from the neck down. Those details are the author-site’s summary of the memoir’s subject, rather than an independently established medical account. Read the official announcement.
Family, career and the final return to the stage
The announcement says the memoir also reflects on Osbourne’s life and career, his marriage to Sharon, and what it took to return for the Back to the Beginning concert, where he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the final time. It presents the planned Birmingham performance as a central motivation in the story.

What Osbourne said about looking back
The official announcement quotes Osbourne on whether he would change his past: “People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m like, f***k no . . . I wouldn’t be Ozzy”. Hachette’s US listing reproduces a related, differently punctuated version that adds: “If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy.” The two versions should not be combined into a single quotation.
