Why was Ozzy Osbourne important to Black Sabbath?
Osbourne was a founding member of Black Sabbath and served as vocalist and lyricist on the band’s first eight albums, according to Warner Music Group. Those records helped establish the group’s place in heavy metal history and made Osbourne’s voice central to its sound.
The band also reached major UK chart milestones. Official Charts reports that Paranoid became Black Sabbath’s first UK Number 1 album in 1970. The band’s 2013 album 13 later set the UK chart record for the longest gap between Number 1 albums—about 43 years.

What does Last Rites cover?
Osbourne’s official site described Last Rites as his final memoir in a September 19, 2025 announcement. The book addresses his health battles, life and career, and his determination to return to Birmingham to perform at the farewell show. The announcement quoted him reflecting on whether he would change his choices: “People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m like, f***k no . . . I wouldn’t be Ozzy.” The post established a pre-order offer at that time, not current stock, formats or availability.
