Roger Waters’ remarks about Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath prompted a public response from Jack Osbourne, followed by a separate discussion by Sharon, Kelly and Jack on The Osbournes Podcast. Waters later addressed the criticism in a Piers Morgan interview, expressing sympathy to Jack while maintaining his disagreement with Sharon.
What Roger Waters said about Ozzy Osbourne
After Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, aged 76, Waters criticized him and Black Sabbath in an interview with The Independent Ink. Variety reported Waters describing Ozzy as someone who “was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense.” Global News quoted Waters saying of the band, “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did.” These quotations are reproduced as reported by those outlets; the available coverage does not establish an independently verified transcript.

Global News’ September 4, 2025 report covered the comments and Jack Osbourne’s response. Variety later reported the family’s podcast discussion in its November 14, 2025 coverage.
Jack Osbourne’s first public response
In September 2025, Jack responded in an Instagram Story. Global News reproduced his words: “How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become.” This public post preceded the later conversation among Sharon, Kelly and Jack on their family podcast.

Waters’ later response
In January 2026, Waters addressed the criticism in an interview with Piers Morgan. Rock 101/ABC Audio reported that Waters initially said he would apologize, then qualified that statement. He also told Jack, “I’m sorry you lost your dad.” The report says Waters maintained his disagreement with Sharon. This was a later response, separate from the Osbournes’ earlier remarks. Rock 101/ABC Audio’s January 19, 2026 report covers that interview.
