Orlando Bloom’s February 2020 tattoo tribute to his son Flynn contained a Morse-code typo: a missing dot made the name read “Frynn” instead. Bloom later shared an updated image and joked that he had finally “dot it right.”
What was wrong with Orlando Bloom’s tattoo?
The forearm design was meant to encode Flynn’s name in Morse code alongside birth information. The mistake was in the name: one dot was missing from the code for the letter L, so the sequence represented R instead. The International Telecommunication Union’s International Morse code recommendation lists L as .−.. and R as .−.; removing L’s final dot leaves R’s code.
When did Bloom correct it?
Bloom posted the initial tattoo image on February 11, 2020. After followers pointed out the error, tattoo artist Balazs Bercsenyi acknowledged it in a statement quoted by ABC News/Good Morning America: “yes, a dot is missing, we know, it will be fixed”.
On February 19, Bloom shared an updated image with the caption, “finally dot it right! How do you make a mistake like that? #pinterestfail.” Follow-up reports the next day said the missing dot had been corrected.

What did the tattoo include?
The design was described in contemporary coverage as combining Flynn’s name in Morse code with his birth date and time. Reports conflicted about the date, so it cannot be stated reliably here; that detail is not needed to explain the spelling error.

For anyone checking a design, compare each letter against the ITU’s official character table before it is tattooed. In this case, the difference between L and R was a single final dot—a small mark with a different letter as its result.
