Oprah Winfrey recalled that a lawyer guest mentioned his book 29 times during an earlier interview. She said she eventually asked the audience to say the title so he could stop repeating it and the conversation could move on. The guest and book were not identified in the contemporary reports.
What Oprah Winfrey said about the guest
Winfrey told the story during a 2017 interview with Harry Connick Jr. on Harry. Connick asked whether she had ever found a guest particularly annoying—someone she could not wait to leave. Winfrey answered with the story of an unnamed lawyer who kept promoting his book.
As quoted by Us Weekly in November 2017, Winfrey said: “I had a guest on who was a lawyer and he mentioned the book 29 times. That’s after I started counting.” The number was her recollection, as reported at the time; it was not presented as an independently verified count.
How she redirected the interview
Winfrey said she eventually asked the audience to name the book so the guest would not need to keep saying its title. Us Weekly reproduced her words: “We all know the name of the book. Audience, tell him the name of the book … so you don’t have to say the name of the book anymore.” The intervention, as she described it, was a way to end the repeated plug and return the exchange to conversation.

The contemporary reports do not name either one. Winfrey said she could not remember which show the interview took place on, so the anecdote cannot be confidently assigned to a particular program or episode. The reports do not support identifying the guest, the book, or the interview as a specific episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The quoted exchange is reproduced in contemporary coverage; these reports do not provide a primary video or transcript for independently checking the wording or count. Without such evidence, naming the lawyer or book would be speculation.
