One-Punch Man Season 3 is already underway: its first cour premiered in 2025. The next installment, Season 3 cour 2, is scheduled to begin airing in 2027, but the official announcement gives no exact date. The update arrives amid continuing discussion of the season’s animation and who is responsible for its production.
When does One-Punch Man Season 3 cour 2 come out?
Shueisha announced on January 7, 2026, that Season 3 cour 2 is scheduled to begin broadcasting in 2027. The official anime website repeats that year. Neither reviewed official announcement specifies a month or premiere day, so a more precise date has not been announced in those sources. Shueisha’s Japanese notice says, in translation, “Broadcasting is scheduled to begin in 2027.” Shueisha’s announcement and the official anime website are the relevant sources for the current window.
Has One-Punch Man Season 3 already been released?
Yes. The first cour premiered in Japan on October 5, 2025, according to TV Tokyo’s program page. It is therefore inaccurate to describe the 2027 announcement as the first release of Season 3; it concerns the second cour.

What Season 3 is about
VIZ’s synopsis sets up a conflict involving the Monster Association: monsters claiming to represent it take the child of a Hero Association executive hostage, prompting S-class heroes to plan a raid. Meanwhile, Garou awakens in the Monster Association hideout. The series follows Saitama, a hero who began fighting for fun and is so powerful that opponents are defeated with one punch. VIZ’s synopsis and announcement appear in its Season 3 release information.
Why is the animation controversial?
Coverage of the season has described audience criticism of its perceived animation quality and debate about the production responsibility. The conversation includes the change from Madhouse, which produced the first season, to J.C. STAFF, credited for animation production on Season 3. Those facts identify a change in studio and the credited production studio; they do not establish why viewers reacted as they did or explain the production decisions behind the finished episodes.

In an October 20, 2025 report, GamesRadar quoted animator Vincent Chansard saying, “I think a lot of people blame J.C. Staff, but it’s a bit more complex,” and, “Sometimes, it’s not about the animation studio; sometimes it’s about the production committee that is on top of everything.” Those are Chansard’s views as reported by GamesRadar, not an official finding about the committee’s decisions or the cause of the criticism. The outlet also reported that he criticized harassment directed at artists and animators. GamesRadar’s report provides that attributed context.
