The “six-month hiatus” was a pause in new One Piece Egghead episodes announced in October 2024—not a break in all One Piece programming. During it, a specially edited version of the Fish-Man Island Saga was scheduled for the anime’s regular Japanese broadcast slot. Egghead returned in April 2025, so the hiatus is now historical.
Was the One Piece anime going on hiatus?
Toei Animation announced on October 13, 2024, that new Egghead arc episodes would pause after episode 1122, which aired that day. The break in regular new episodes ran from October 20, 2024, through March 30, 2025, according to the official Japanese announcement. Toei said the arc would return in April 2025. The dates account for the description “six-month hiatus.” Toei’s announcement and the Japanese notice describe a pause in new Egghead episodes, not a shutdown of the entire series.

For viewers following the Japanese broadcast, the slot continued with other One Piece programming: the Fish-Man Island special edit was scheduled to begin October 27, 2024. International broadcast and streaming schedules can differ; the Japanese dates do not establish availability or timing in other regions.
What was the Fish-Man Island remaster?
One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga was a special edit of the 2011–12 Fish-Man Island broadcast, rather than a newly announced adaptation or full remake. Toei said the material was re-edited, scenes were reshot with new cuts, and the sound was produced in Dolby Atmos. The announcement does not specify an episode count or describe every scene-level change, so it is not possible to make a complete shot-by-shot comparison from the announcement alone.

The anime is based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, as Toei Animation USA stated in its October 2024 press release. Readers who want to revisit the story in its original manga form can compare the adaptation with Oda’s source work; the schedule announcements do not identify specific collected volumes for the Fish-Man Island material.
