Luffy playing basketball, announced as part of a one-night Lakers–ONE PIECE event on February 28, 2025. That game-night activation is over; later announcements expanded the tie-in into a separate NBA merchandise line, including several distinct Lakers Luffy figures.
What was the One Piece and Lakers collaboration?
On February 25, 2025, Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced a ONE PIECE-themed game night for the Los Angeles Lakers’ February 28 game against the Clippers at Crypto.com Arena. The announcement promised themed experiences and a first look at an animation featuring Luffy playing basketball. It described that animation as a preview, not as a newly announced 2026 event. (Bandai Namco Entertainment America announcement, February 25, 2025)
What did the first look show?
The announced first look was an animation of Monkey D. Luffy playing basketball. Bandai Namco’s announcement said: “The night will feature ONE PIECE themed experiences, including a first look at an animation featuring Luffy playing basketball.” The source announced the animation as part of the event; it does not establish a current screening or release schedule.
What happened at the 2025 Lakers game?
The February 25 announcement outlined several planned elements for the February 28 game night. These were event details, not continuing offers:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- ONE PIECE-themed experiences at the arena.
- Lakers-inspired social visuals featuring all ten Straw Hat Pirates.
- A limited-edition T-shirt and poster for attendees, while supplies lasted.
- A ONE PIECE Bounty Rush photo booth.
- A randomly selected on-court game with prizes.
Because the activation was for a past game, the announcement does not make those giveaways or activities available now.
How the game-night event led to a wider NBA merchandise line
The arena event and the merchandise rollout are related franchise promotions, but they are not the same offer. A November 21, 2025 announcement described an initial six-team figure wave featuring the Lakers, Bulls, Warriors, Celtics, Knicks and Grizzlies, and named ONE PIECE BASE SHOP and Premium Bandai among the initial sales channels.
