The Five Elders have named monstrous transformation forms: Saturn is Ushi-oni, Mars is Itsumade, Warcury is Hōki, Nusjuro is Bakotsu, and Ju Peter is Sandworm. Those are form names—not confirmed names for their Devil Fruits. The reviewed sources do not establish the individual fruit names.
What are the Gorosei’s named forms?
YOKAI.JP reports that the official One Piece episode 1144 guide identifies the five forms and maps them to the Elders. The names answer what each Elder transforms into; they do not, by themselves, identify the name of a Devil Fruit.
| Elder | Named form | What the name evokes |
|---|---|---|
| Saint Jaygarcia Saturn | Ushi-oni | A monstrous creature associated with a bull’s head and, in some depictions, a spider-like body. Ushi-oni portrayals vary by region and source. |
| Saint Marcus Mars | Itsumade | A monstrous bird. The familiar name and image are associated with Toriyama Sekien’s later illustration; the earlier Taiheiki account describes a monster bird without giving it that proper name. |
| Saint Topman Warcury | Hōki | The official form name is Hōki. The name is linked to Fengxi in Chinese tradition, so it should not be treated as simply another member of a uniform set of Japanese yokai. |
| Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro | Bakotsu | A skeletal horse form, connected to a horse-skeleton tradition in folklore. |
| Saint Shepherd Ju Peter | Sandworm | A giant sandworm, a modern fantasy monster archetype rather than a classical Japanese yokai. |
Are the Five Elders’ Devil Fruit names confirmed?
No individual Devil Fruit names are established by the reviewed sources. A name attached to a transformation tells readers what the form is called; it is not proof that the fruit itself has that same name. ComingSoon’s February 28, 2024 coverage of the reveal said the fruit names had not been disclosed and described a Mythical Zoan classification as apparent. That is dated secondary reporting, not a current primary confirmation of the fruits’ names or classification.
The official episode 1144 guide is cited by YOKAI.JP for the form names. That evidence supports the mapping above, but not a claim that the five Devil Fruits themselves have been identified. Accordingly, calling these the Elders’ confirmed fruit names goes further than the evidence supports.

What folklore do the names reference?
The names point to different traditions, not five interchangeable Japanese yokai. YOKAI.JP’s folklore discussion distinguishes Japanese folklore imagery and texts, Chinese mythological tradition, and modern fantasy. These comparisons can help explain the names and visual designs, but they do not prove that One Piece adopts every detail—or every power—associated with those traditions.
Ushi-oni, Itsumade, and Bakotsu
Ushi-oni depictions vary, so one familiar bull-headed or spider-bodied image should not be treated as a definitive version. For Itsumade, YOKAI.JP notes that the Taiheiki passage describes an unnamed monster bird; the familiar Itsumade name and image came later in Toriyama Sekien’s 1779 depiction. The later reading about it crying beside corpses is not stated in that passage, according to the source. Bakotsu draws on a horse-skeleton tradition, but that parallel alone does not establish that every folkloric detail belongs to Nusjuro’s story.

Hōki and Sandworm
Hōki is linked to Fengxi in Chinese tradition. YOKAI.JP associates the name with a creature in the Chinese Huainanzi and says later commentary connects it to a giant boar; the ancient text should not be treated as a modern creature encyclopedia. Sandworm, by contrast, is a modern fantasy archetype, not a classical Japanese yokai.

Sources and what they establish
- YOKAI.JP’s discussion of the Gorosei’s forms and their folklore references reports the official episode 1144 guide’s form names and provides the cultural context. It cautions against treating visual parallels as proof of a direct transfer of lore.
- ComingSoon’s February 28, 2024 report describes the fruit names as unrevealed at that time and the Mythical Zoan reading as apparent; it is dated secondary reporting.
