One Piece was scheduled to miss two issues of Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2024 after an announcement cited creator Eiichiro Oda’s health. This is a historical update, not a report of a break underway in 2026; the notice gave no diagnosis or detail about his condition.
Why was One Piece on break?
In November 2024, the series’ official accounts announced that One Piece would be absent from Weekly Shonen Jump issues 51 and 52. The announcement cited Oda’s health as the reason, but did not identify a medical condition. Crunchyroll’s November 15, 2024 report reproduced the Japanese notice; its English rendering should be understood as a translation, not a verbatim English statement from Oda.

Which issues were affected, and when was the manga due back?
The schedule reported at the time was:
| Issue | Scheduled sale date | One Piece status |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Shonen Jump 51 | November 18, 2024 | No new chapter scheduled |
| Weekly Shonen Jump 52 | November 25, 2024 | No new chapter scheduled |
| Weekly Shonen Jump 1 | December 2, 2024 | Stated return issue |
These are the dates reported for the 2024 announcement, not a statement about publication in 2026. ORICON’s November 14, 2024 report attributed the notice to the official One Piece X account and reported the same two missed issues and scheduled return.
Why did issue 51 still list One Piece?
Issue 51’s table of contents and reader questionnaire still included One Piece. According to Crunchyroll’s report, the issue had reached the printing stage, so its contents could not be changed in time; the publisher apologized for the listing. The printed listing did not mean a chapter was available in that issue.

Was this the same break as the 2023 hiatus?
No. A separate official notice in 2023 concerned issues 29–32. That earlier pause had different dates and should not be conflated with the two-issue November 2024 break. The official One Piece notice from 2023 documents that earlier schedule.
