Robin tries to keep the God’s Knight Sommers away from the children, but Ronja’s plea forces Jarul to confront the Knights’ ultimatum. Scopper Gaban’s arrival closes the chapter on a sudden shift in the confrontation.
What happens in One Piece chapter 1148?
The God’s Knights threaten to kill Ronja, a giant child, unless Jarul orders Elbaph’s school and library burned. The demand targets more than a building: it places the community’s children and its shared institutions in the same crisis.

Robin confronts Sommers and tries to draw him away from the children. Her effort is tactical and immediate—she is trying to protect them from the danger in front of her—while the Knights use the threat against Ronja to pressure Jarul into destroying places central to Elbaph’s community.
Ronja becomes the chapter’s emotional center
Ronja asks Jarul not to let her be the reason Elbaph loses its school and library. The chapter’s title points to her position in the ultimatum: she is the child singled out to make the threat impossible for Jarul to ignore.
#1 Best Overall
Jarul orders the fire
Jarul orders the school and library burned. That decision marks a grim turn in the confrontation: the Knights’ coercion has made the threatened destruction of Elbaph’s institutions part of the immediate stakes.
Gaban arrives as Sommers attacks Robin
As Sommers attacks Robin, Scopper Gaban arrives and attacks Sommers. His entrance changes the immediate balance of the confrontation, though it does not resolve the wider danger to the children or Elbaph’s school and library.

What does the chapter’s title mean?
VIZ’s English chapter listing calls the installment “Ronja”; the official Japanese Shonen Jump+ page gives the title as ローニャ. The title foregrounds the child placed at the center of the Knights’ ultimatum, rather than naming the clash after Robin or Gaban.
How does chapter 1148 frame Robin’s fight?
Robin’s maneuver and the Knights’ ultimatum operate on different levels. Robin tries to redirect Sommers and shield the children from immediate harm. The Knights use Ronja’s life to compel Jarul to sacrifice institutions that serve Elbaph’s community. Ronja’s response connects those two pressures: she is not only in danger, but is made to feel responsible for what the community might lose.
