Omar Harfouch anunció el 18 de noviembre de 2025 que dejaba el jurado de Miss Universe 2025, antes de la final. Afirmó que no podía respaldar una votación preliminar para elegir a 30 finalistas en la que, según él, los jueces oficiales no participaron efectivamente. Miss Universe Organization (MUO) negó que un jurado paralelo hubiera seleccionado a las finalistas. Días después, el presidente Raúl Rocha Cantú ofreció otra versión sobre su salida: dijo que él había cancelado la participación de Harfouch.
Por qué Harfouch dijo que se retiraba
En declaraciones reproducidas por El Universo, Harfouch sostuvo que se había realizado una votación para escoger a 30 finalistas sin la participación efectiva de los ocho jueces oficiales. También afirmó que había sido incluido en una votación sin haber intervenido realmente, y denunció que los resultados se mantenían en secreto y que podía haber conflictos de interés. Qué respondió Miss Universe Organization
MUO rechazó la caracterización de Harfouch. En un comunicado reproducido por People en Español, la organización dijo que no había creado un jurado improvisado ni autorizado a un grupo externo a evaluar a las delegadas o elegir finalistas. Explicó que el comité al que se refería Harfouch pertenecía a Beyond the Crown, un programa independiente, y que no puntuaba la actuación de las candidatas ni añadía puntos al resultado de la competencia.

La organización dijo que reconocía respetuosamente la retirada de Harfouch del panel y que las evaluaciones del certamen continuaban bajo los protocolos establecidos por MUO. La respuesta de la organización contradice la descripción del proceso hecha por Harfouch; no constituye una verificación independiente de las acusaciones.
¿Renunció Harfouch o cancelaron su participación?
Las versiones públicas también difieren sobre cómo terminó su participación. Harfouch presentó su salida como una renuncia. En una cobertura posterior, publicada el 21–22 de noviembre, El Universal informó que Rocha Cantú dijo que él había cancelado la participación del músico. Por tanto, puede afirmarse que Harfouch anunció su salida el 18 de noviembre, pero las fuentes disponibles no establecen de forma independiente si la terminación formal fue una renuncia o una cancelación por parte de la organización.

Estas declaraciones no demuestran que la elección de la ganadora o el resultado de Miss Universe 2025 estuvieran amañados. Tampoco resuelven por sí mismas si Harfouch renunció o si MUO canceló su participación.
