Jack Laugher said he joined OnlyFans to earn extra money by charging subscribers for content similar to what he already shared publicly. Reporting in 2024 described his material as swimwear and underwear content, not nude photos. The story was about paid access and the financial pressures some athletes face—not evidence that every Olympic diver had the same reasons or circumstances.
What did Jack Laugher say he was doing on OnlyFans?
In an interview published by the London Standard on 26 July 2024, the British diver described the decision in straightforward financial terms: “I try and make extra money. I’ve got something people want and I’ll happily cash in on that. I’m a bit of a hustler and I want a bit more money if I can.”
He said subscribers paid for material much like what he posted on free social media: “So now I’m giving people stuff which is very similar to what I post online but it’s for a small subscription fee.” In other words, the reported appeal was monetizing an existing audience and public-facing image, rather than a change to a different kind of content.
What kind of content did reports describe?
The Standard reported that Laugher insisted there were no nude pictures. In an August 2024 report, ABC News Australia described the account as offering “SFW (safe for work) content in Speedos, briefs, boxers.” These are descriptions from 2024 coverage, not a current verification of his account, its status, or its content.

Here, “flaunting” is best understood as sharing physique-focused or swimwear content for paying subscribers. The reporting does not establish that Laugher was selling nude material, nor that all creators on the platform publish the same kind of content.
How did athlete funding and sponsorship fit in?
ABC reported that Laugher’s sponsorships had dried up and that funding he was waiting for after the Tokyo Olympics did not materialize. He called the platform “For me, it’s been an absolute lifeline.” That places his choice in the context of a reported gap between the costs of elite sport and the money available to him.

The same ABC story described athletes dealing with expenses such as training, medical care, equipment and living costs, while noting that support arrangements vary between delegations. It is context for particular athletes and systems, not proof that every Olympian is underfunded. The article also quoted IOC spokesman Mark Adams: “I would assume that athletes, like all citizens, are allowed to do what they can.”
Laugher is a competing diver and vice chair of the World Aquatics Athletes’ Committee, according to a World Aquatics profile published on 19 April 2024. That background makes him an athlete voice in the discussion, but his personal account should not be treated as a universal description of Olympic funding.

What did subscriptions and funding figures look like in 2024?
The Standard reported Laugher’s page at $10 per month or £80 for an annual subscription; ABC also reported the $10 monthly price in August 2024. Those are historical prices reported in 2024, not a current price check or confirmation that the account remains active.
The Standard’s article body said divers it described as having podium potential could earn £28,000 a year, but its headline said “£28k-per-week.” Because those figures contradict one another, the headline figure should not be repeated as fact; even the annual figure is the body text’s 2024 claim, not an independently established current rate.

Does this mean Olympic divers commonly use OnlyFans?
No prevalence figure is established here. The 2024 reports named Laugher and some teammates, but a handful of reported cases cannot show what share of Olympic athletes or divers use the platform. The evidence supports a narrower conclusion: Laugher said he wanted additional income, while reporting connected his decision to his own sponsorship and funding circumstances.
