Reports say Olivia Rodrigo’s top came undone during “Love Is Embarrassing” at London’s O2 Arena on May 14, 2024. She held it in place and continued performing; after the song, she reportedly went backstage to have it fixed and returned with a joke for the audience.
What happened during the performance?
The incident occurred during Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour show at the O2 Arena in London. Music-News.com reported that it was the first of her four London dates. Coverage places the moment on Tuesday, May 14, during “Love Is Embarrassing.” Music-News.com’s May 15 report and People’s report republished by Yahoo on May 16 describe the back fastening of her top coming undone.
According to those accounts, Rodrigo held the garment in place while carrying on with the song, and a dancer tried to help refasten it. She reportedly went offstage after the performance to get the outfit fixed. Bustle’s May 15 coverage also describes the onstage assistance and her continuing the performance.
What did Olivia Rodrigo say afterward?
People’s report, republished by Yahoo, quotes Rodrigo telling the crowd: “I almost flashed you guys, but it’s okay now!” The same report says she also called the moment “f—— embarrassing,” with the profanity censored. These are reported quotations; the accounts cited here do not independently verify them with an official recording or statement.

The song’s title made for an apt coincidence, but the reported incident itself was straightforward: a fastening came undone, Rodrigo kept the top in place through the song, then left to have it fixed.

“Love Is Embarrassing” is track 9 on the standard GUTS vinyl listing in Olivia Rodrigo’s official store. The store also lists a blue vinyl edition with the song in its track listing.
