In a 2024 Vogue interview, Munn described the context for her treatment: “Aggressive cancers need aggressive treatments.” Vogue reported that she had four surgeries in ten months as part of that treatment, including her double mastectomy and reconstruction.

In remarks to People quoted by the Los Angeles Times on April 17, 2024, Munn spoke about the distress of seeing her post-mastectomy body, her scars, and gradually feeling more comfortable. She said, “I haven’t really felt like I’ve been back in the body that I knew before,” and later reflected, “It’s much better, but it’s not the same, and that’s OK because I’m here.” These comments concern recovery after cancer treatment.
