In a November 2023 interview with PEOPLE, republished by Yahoo, the Southern Charm cast member described his health and addiction struggles, their plans to meet on the day of his death, and the coroner’s reported ruling that he died from an accidental fentanyl overdose on January 30, 2023.
What Olivia Flowers said about Conner’s health and addiction
Flowers told PEOPLE that Conner began experiencing headaches, dizziness, and pain as a teenager. She recalled years of efforts to understand what was causing his symptoms, followed by a Lyme disease diagnosis and treatment. In her account, prescription painkillers and medication for anxiety became part of his life, and he developed an addiction. These are Flowers’s recollections, not an independently verified medical history.
She said Conner sought treatment for both Lyme disease and addiction, including multiple stays in rehabilitation. Flowers remembered him as wanting to recover and said his family supported him. “Nobody wanted to get better more than Conner did,” she said.
Flowers remembered him seeming well shortly before his death
Flowers said relatives visited Conner at an Arizona wellness center around Christmas, shortly before his death. She recalled that he had been clean and appeared to be in better shape. She also said he planned to move to Dallas and had jobs lined up.

What happened on the day Conner died
During a later visit to the Charleston area, Flowers and Conner planned to have dinner. She said they spoke by phone that day. After she left the family home, believing no one was there, their father called to say he could see an ambulance on the driveway cameras. Flowers turned back, but said the home was blocked off when she arrived.
The PEOPLE interview reported that the coroner ruled Conner’s death an accidental fentanyl overdose. He died on January 30, 2023, aged 32, shortly before his 33rd birthday. The interview recounts Flowers’s experience and the reported ruling; it does not provide a medical-record-based reconstruction of the emergency or establish the broader causes of his addiction.

Why Flowers chose to share her brother’s story
Flowers said she wanted to honor Conner and hoped speaking publicly might help others. Reflecting on the difficulties he faced, she said: “There are these holes in the healthcare system, and my brother fell into one.”
Her account brings together a family’s memories of illness, treatment, recovery efforts, and sudden loss. It also preserves the distinction between what Flowers recalled and what the interview reported as the coroner’s ruling.
