But the available sources do not confirm that he is alive today or establish a complete age ranking, so it would be premature to call him definitively the oldest living inductee.
What the available evidence establishes
The answer depends on two facts for every candidate: their age on a stated date and reliable confirmation that they are alive on that date. WWE’s profile identifies Rodz as a 1996 Hall of Fame inductee and describes his wrestling and training career. A biographical reference records May 16, 1938, as his birth date. Those dates make him 88 on October 8, 2026, but the cited material does not confirm his current living status. WWE’s Johnny Rodz profile and the biographical reference support the induction and birth-date details, respectively.
Accordingly, Rodz is best described as a leading documented candidate, not a verified record-holder. A definitive answer would require current living-status confirmation and a comparison across the full eligible roster of WWE Hall of Fame wrestlers.
Other candidates and why the ranking is unsettled
Bill Watts
WWE confirms Watts’s 2009 induction and documents his work as a wrestler and promoter. The available material does not establish his birth date or current living status well enough to compare his age with Rodz’s. WWE’s Bill Watts profile confirms his induction, but not the missing ranking details.

Deceased inductees are not living candidates
Several prominent or older inductees must be excluded from a living-person ranking:
- Dory Funk Jr. The Los Angeles Times reported his death in August 2026 at age 85. The report gives his birth date as February 3, 1941, and notes that the Funk brothers entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. Los Angeles Times report.
- Stu Hart. WWE gives his birth date as May 3, 1915, and death date as October 16, 2003; he was inducted posthumously in the 2010 class. WWE’s Stu Hart profile.
- Bob Armstrong. WWE identifies him as a 2011 inductee, places his birth in autumn 1939, and links a report of his death. The profile does not supply an exact birthday. WWE’s Bob Armstrong profile.
- Hulk Hogan. The Associated Press reported his death in July 2025 at age 71 and noted his 2005 induction. Associated Press report.
- Bad News Brown. WWE announced him as a 2026 legacy inductee; he is a posthumous entry, not a living candidate. WWE’s 2026 announcement.
How to read an “oldest living” claim
A Hall of Fame induction list alone cannot establish who is oldest and alive: it must be paired with birth dates and up-to-date status reporting. Induction type also matters. Posthumous and legacy inductees belong in the Hall of Fame but cannot be counted among living wrestlers. An accurate ranking should compare people inducted for wrestling, use the best-supported birth date for each, state the cutoff date for ages, and verify living status from current, reliable reporting.
