Old is M. Night Shyamalan’s 2021 thriller-horror film about a family whose resort getaway turns frightening when they discover that people on a secluded beach are aging rapidly. The accelerated aging is the film’s supernatural story premise, not a real-world scientific explanation. The title can also mean something else outside this context, so this article refers specifically to Shyamalan’s film.

Guy and Prisca take their children, Trent and Maddox, to a resort hoping for a fresh start. A visit to a secluded beach changes the trip: the family realizes they are aging at an alarming rate and tries to understand what is happening and escape. The premise is fictional supernatural horror, rather than a claim about how aging works in reality. Is Old a horror movie?
Yes. It is a thriller with horror elements, built around escalating threat, disturbing imagery, and the family’s attempt to survive an inexplicable situation. Universal’s US listing gives it a PG-13 rating and flags strong violence, disturbing images, suggestive content, partial nudity, and brief strong language. That is the US studio listing; classification systems differ by territory. For example, the BBFC’s UK advice describes sustained threat, strong violence, and injury detail, while the Australian record cites mature themes, violence, occasional coarse language, and supernatural themes. Universal lists 1 hour 49 minutes, Apple TV’s US storefront lists 1 hour 48 minutes, and the Australian Classification record gives 109 minutes for public exhibition. The Apple TV US listing and Universal listing therefore differ by one minute; use the runtime shown for the particular edition or storefront you plan to watch.

Where can you watch or buy Old?
Universal’s home-entertainment page lists digital purchase and rental, as well as 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions. These are the formats the studio identifies; that listing does not establish current subscription-streaming availability, local stock, or prices. Digital storefronts and physical-edition availability can vary by country, so check the retailer serving your region and confirm the edition before buying.
