There is no reliable public ranking of which of Mia Farrow’s 14 children she is closest to today. Published accounts document different relationships at different times: Ronan Farrow was described as accompanying his mother on humanitarian trips, Dylan Farrow recalled her mother’s care and later living with her, while Moses Farrow said in 2020 that he was estranged from Mia. Those snapshots do not establish every child’s current relationship with her.
What the public record shows about Mia Farrow and her children
The clearest evidence is specific, dated testimony and reporting—not a comprehensive account of family contact. It helps to distinguish a child’s own recollection from a profile’s description, and both from a present-day assessment. The available accounts support examples of affection, practical support and estrangement, but not a definitive answer about who is “closest.”

Ronan Farrow: humanitarian trips and a public expression of pride
A 2013 Vanity Fair profile reported that Ronan often partnered with his mother on humanitarian trips. The article also quoted him saying, “I am so proud of my family.” That is a positive signal from that period, but it is not a current measure of how often they speak or spend time together. Read the 2013 profile in Vanity Fair.
Dylan Farrow: childhood care and a period of adult co-residence
Dylan has recalled that Mia stayed outside her kindergarten classroom when Dylan was anxious. She has also said that, as an adult, she and her husband temporarily moved in with Mia. These accounts describe care and contact at the times she discussed them; they do not by themselves establish the family’s present circumstances. Dylan Farrow’s account in The Guardian.

Moses Farrow: an explicit account of estrangement in 2020
In a 2020 interview with The Irish Times, Moses said he was close to his father and estranged from his mother. This is Moses’s account at that time; it should not be treated as proof of the current status of every relationship in the family. Read the interview in The Irish Times.
Soon-Yi Previn: a dated report of estrangement
An Elle profile described Mia as estranged from Soon-Yi in 2018. That is a report about their relationship in that period, not confirmation that the same status continues today. Read the 2018 profile in Elle.
Rank #2
What Mia Farrow has said about her children
Farrow has said she regards her adopted and biological children equally. In a 2004 interview, when asked whether they were the same to her, she answered: “Yes, of course. For me, they are all exactly the same.” She also said she especially loved getting together with her children and grandchildren. These are her statements about her feelings; they are not independent accounts of how each child experienced the relationship. Read the Alain Elkann interview.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a closest-child ranking would be misleading
- The accounts were published in different years, from 2004 to 2020, and do not provide a current, complete picture.
- They show different things: a shared humanitarian activity, a child’s recollection of care, temporary adult co-residence, or a stated estrangement.
- Some accounts come directly from a family member, while others are a reporter’s description. A single account cannot stand in for every person’s perspective.
- Siblings’ relationships with one another are not evidence of how close they are to Mia.
Fletcher Previn has described the family crisis as affecting siblings differently, underscoring that the family does not have one uniform perspective. That observation is context, not evidence that any particular sibling is close to Mia. Read Fletcher Previn’s account in Vanity Fair.
Rank #3
So the careful answer is limited: Ronan and Dylan are associated in published accounts with positive signs of connection at particular times; Moses explicitly described estrangement in 2020, and an Elle profile reported estrangement involving Soon-Yi in 2018. The public record does not establish which of Mia Farrow’s children she is closest to now.
