What the OD: Knock teaser showed
Kojima Productions’ official event recap identifies the video as OD – KNOCK Teaser Trailer and confirms it was presented at Beyond The Strand, the studio’s tenth-anniversary event, on September 23, 2025. Kojima Productions’ Beyond The Strand recap confirms the presentation, but does not characterize the clip as a complete gameplay demonstration.
Insider Gaming described the footage as a first-person horror scene in an apartment: Sophia Lillis’ character lights candles as repeated knocking is heard, before a mysterious figure appears. That is the outlet’s description of the teaser, not a full account of the game’s mechanics or a statement from Kojima Productions. Insider Gaming’s report on the OD teaser calls it first-person horror gameplay.
What is confirmed about the project
Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios announced OD on December 7, 2023, at The Game Awards. The announcement describes a collaboration using Xbox cloud gaming technology, and frames the project as an effort to test fear and blur the boundaries between games and film. It does not establish retail platforms or exclusivity.

The 2023 announcement names Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier in lead roles, with Jordan Peele among several storytellers. It does not detail the characters’ roles or explain how the storytellers’ contributions will be divided.
What the teaser does—and does not—tell us about gameplay
The reported first-person perspective and candle-lit apartment establish the teaser’s visual approach, but the footage described by Insider Gaming does not answer practical questions about play. The official materials cited here do not specify controls, objectives, combat, level structure, or whether the final experience will use the same perspective throughout. Insider Gaming also characterized the broader project as apparently comprising multiple projects; that interpretation is secondary reporting, not wording confirmed in Kojima Productions’ event recap.

The official Kojima Productions materials cited here do not state a release date, price, sale listing, or final platform availability. The Xbox partnership and cloud technology are confirmed, but they are not proof that the game will be Xbox-exclusive or that a particular retail device is required. Until Kojima Productions or Xbox publishes distribution details, platform and purchase questions remain open.
