For a mostly static Bengali music playlist, start in OBS with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, 3 Mbps video, and stereo AAC audio at 128 Kbps. This is a practical starting profile—not a guarantee for every low-end PC. Your computer’s encoder and upload connection determine whether it stays stable, so test the full playlist before going public.
Recommended OBS settings to start with
| Setting | Starting value | Why or when to adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | 1280Ă—720 | A workable starting point for a static cover or simple visualizer. Reduce it if the PC struggles or the connection cannot sustain the stream. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps | Usually sufficient for a low-motion music stream. Use a higher frame rate only if the visuals benefit and the PC and network can sustain it. |
| Video encoder | H.264 | YouTube’s encoder guidance covers H.264 RTMP/RTMPS streams. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube specifies constant bitrate for encoder streams. |
| Video bitrate | 3 Mbps | YouTube recommends 3 Mbps for H.264 at 720p/30; its listed range is 2–6 Mbps. The recommended point still requires enough stable upload bandwidth. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps | YouTube’s stated stereo audio recommendation. Confirm the playlist is actually reaching the encoder. |
These values come from YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not a benchmark on a particular low-end computer. A scrolling lyric track, animated visualizer, or frequent scene changes puts more demand on encoding than a still image; judge the result in the stream preview and playback rather than assuming a setting will fit every setup. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance lists the H.264 ranges and recommendations.
Choose an encoder your PC can handle
Try an available hardware encoder first
If OBS offers a supported hardware encoder already present on your system, try it first. Hardware encoding shifts work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component and generally has minimal performance impact, according to OBS. Older hardware encoders can produce lower image quality at the same bitrate, however, so inspect the preview and a test playback rather than assuming hardware is automatically better. OBS explains hardware encoding and its tradeoffs.
Use x264 if hardware encoding is unavailable or unstable
With x264, choose a faster CPU preset rather than a slower, more demanding preset, then reduce output resolution or frame rate if OBS reports encoding overload. The best preset depends on the specific PC; without its processor and OBS configuration, no exact preset can be promised. Change one setting at a time and retest so you can tell whether the encoder is keeping up.

Make sure the upload connection has headroom
Run an upload speed test under typical household network use before choosing a bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom beyond the total stream bitrate; also account for other devices and upload activity sharing the connection. If a 3 Mbps video stream is not stable, lower the bitrate and/or output resolution rather than running at the edge of the available upload capacity. YouTube’s encoder guidance includes the headroom advice.
For this mostly static format, 30 fps is the sensible first choice. A higher frame rate increases the encoding and bandwidth burden; use it only if moving graphics or other visuals visibly benefit and your computer and connection remain stable during testing.

Set up OBS and test the stream before publishing
- Confirm channel eligibility. Live streaming must be enabled for the YouTube channel. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-streaming enablement requirements before scheduling a stream.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. In the Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, then copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS. Treat the key like a password: it directs the encoder feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it publicly.
- Configure OBS output and audio. Apply the starting profile above. Add the playlist audio source and the intended still image, visualizer, or other scene. Watch OBS’s audio meter while the playlist plays, and check that desktop audio is not duplicated or unintentionally capturing other sounds.
- Run a representative test, preferably unlisted. Use the actual playlist audio and visuals you intend to stream. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, listen for silence or clipping, and view playback on another device. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality. See YouTube’s testing and monitoring guidance.
- Diagnose before changing settings. If OBS reports encoding overload or frames are being lost during encoding, try a working hardware encoder, use a faster x264 preset, or lower resolution or frame rate. If network-dropped frames appear, reduce bitrate and recheck upload headroom. These point to different bottlenecks; do not treat an encoder problem as a network problem, or vice versa.
Clear music rights before streaming a playlist
A track being playable in a browser or included in a Bengali music playlist does not mean you have permission to rebroadcast it in a YouTube livestream. Confirm rights for every track and the relevant territory, and make sure permission covers both live streaming and any archived replay. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance tells creators to respect audio and video rights; it does not establish clearance for any particular playlist or licensing service.
Do not rely on a generic “royalty-free” label alone. Read the actual license for track coverage, territory, live use, replay or archival use, attribution requirements, and Content ID procedures. Obtain any necessary permission before going live.
