To loop a Hindi news clip on YouTube Live with OBS, add it as a looping Media Source, set OBS to YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, and test an unlisted stream before going public. For several clips, use a VLC Video playlist instead. The right bitrate depends on your resolution, frame rate, and reliable upload capacity—not simply the highest setting OBS allows.
Choose how OBS will play the clips
Use Media Source for one local video file. Use VLC Video when you need a playlist of files. Both approaches can repeat content, but VLC Video requires VLC to be installed on the computer.
Loop one clip with Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene you want to use and click the + in the Sources dock.
- Choose Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the video file.
- Enable Loop. If the source may be hidden and shown as scenes change, consider enabling Restart playback when source becomes active; this restarts the clip when the source becomes visible in the active scene.
- Check that the source is visible in the program output, not just the editor preview. Confirm that the video is framed as intended and its audio is present.

Loop a playlist with VLC Video
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS if it is not already installed; OBS requires it for the VLC Video source to appear.
- In the Sources dock, click + and choose VLC Video.
- Add the video files to the playlist in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the list after its final item. Use Shuffle Playlist only if you want playback order randomized.
- Check the active program output and confirm the picture and sound before streaming.
Set OBS encoding for YouTube Live
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not set the interval above 4 seconds. Its RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, with frame rates up to 60 fps. RTMPS is recommended for encrypted transport. YouTube’s guidance for ordinary SDR also lists Rec. 709 color space, 8-bit depth, progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC. Choose a resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
For H.264, YouTube gives the following bitrate examples. These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection in India—or elsewhere—can sustain the bitrate.

Pick a resolution and frame rate your encoder and upstream connection can maintain steadily. If the clip is mostly static, 30 fps may be sufficient; use 60 fps only when it benefits the material and your setup can sustain it. Start with YouTube’s recommendation for the chosen H.264 output, then test. If the stream is unstable, lower the output resolution or bitrate rather than allowing a shared connection to run at its limit.

Check audio and network headroom
YouTube lists AAC or MP3 stereo audio at 44.1 kHz, with 128 Kbps as its recommended stereo bitrate. Check that OBS is sending the intended audio source and that levels are audible without clipping.
Measure upload speed and leave capacity beyond the video and audio bitrate. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend 20% spare capacity beyond the total streaming bitrate. A speed-test result is not a guarantee of sustained performance: other devices or users on the same connection can consume upstream bandwidth. Connect OBS to YouTube and test privately
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the corresponding OBS stream settings. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe this workflow.
- Treat the stream key like a password. It tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it; do not expose it in screenshots, overlays, or public messages.
- Start streaming from OBS to populate the YouTube preview, then run an unlisted test before the public broadcast.
- Use a test with movement and audio similar to the actual clip. Inspect the YouTube preview and stream-health messages, and monitor them during the broadcast.
Before switching the stream to public, check the following:
- The clip repeats without an unintended blank scene or silent interval.
- Audio is present, in sync, and at a suitable level.
- The OBS program output and YouTube preview show the intended framing and resolution.
- The Live Control Room reports a healthy incoming stream.
- The connection has upload headroom, with no shared user or device saturating the upstream link.
Check rights before rebroadcasting news footage
OBS settings make playback and transmission possible; they do not grant permission to rebroadcast a Hindi news clip. Confirm you have the necessary rights or permission for every item, including any footage, music, graphics, or other material within it, and check that your use complies with YouTube’s policies. The technical guidance cited here does not determine whether a particular clip is licensed or what legal rules apply to a specific use in India. Do not assume that attribution, a short clip length, or a successful unlisted test makes a rebroadcast lawful.

Troubleshoot common looping and streaming problems
