YouTube’s published H.264 recommendation for 240p–720p at 30 fps is 4 Mbps; it is not a universal bitrate for every resolution or frame rate. Use a looping Media Source for one recording or a VLC Video playlist for multiple recordings, clear the rights to the actual recordings and visuals, and test the complete setup before relying on it for continuous streaming.
Choose how OBS will play the recitation
OBS offers two practical ways to repeat prerecorded material. A Media Source can loop one supported audio or video file. For a rotation of recordings, use a VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for that source to appear in OBS.

OBS lists common audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV, and common video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. Confirm that your files play before building a long-running stream around them. These source details are documented in OBS’s media-source guidance.
Set OBS output for YouTube Live
Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations as a starting point, not a guarantee of stable delivery. For a static-image recitation stream, 30 fps and a modest supported resolution are usually sensible; choose the bitrate to match that resolution and the upload capacity you actually have.

- Protocol: Use RTMPS where available. YouTube recommends it for encrypted transport.
- Video encoder: H.264.
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Video bitrate: YouTube’s published H.264 entry for 240p–720p at 30 fps is 4 Mbps. Its recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so do not apply that number to every configuration.
- Audio encoder: AAC or MP3. YouTube’s advanced recommendations list 44.1 kHz for stereo audio and 128 Kbps for stereo.
Keep the OBS output and sample rate consistent with the source files. Before publishing, listen for clipping, silence, abrupt transitions, or gaps; a settings value alone cannot confirm that the recordings sound as intended.
Check upload capacity before choosing a bitrate
Measure upload speed on the same connection and under conditions similar to the planned stream. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. A speed test taken when a shared connection is quiet may overstate what is available during a busy period, and YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream.

- Run an upload-speed test on the network and at the time you expect to stream.
- Account for other devices and services using that connection.
- Choose a resolution and bitrate the connection can sustain while retaining YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom.
- Run a representative test stream and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages before committing to the chosen settings.
Do not raise the bitrate just to select the highest possible resolution. A stream the connection cannot sustain is more likely to suffer interruptions than one configured within its practical capacity.
Enable the channel and connect the stream key
YouTube’s general live-streaming help says the channel must be verified, must not have live-streaming restrictions during the prior 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check that live streaming is enabled before configuring OBS.

- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream.
- Select encoder mode, then use the stream URL and stream key shown there in OBS.
- Treat the stream key like a password: YouTube describes it as the credential that lets the encoder send the feed. Do not share it publicly.
- Start a private or unlisted test and confirm the preview, audio, video, and stream-health status before making the stream public.
Clear rights to the recitation and visual materials
The Quranic text being religious scripture does not by itself establish that a particular recording is free to rebroadcast. Check rights in the actual recitation recording and performance, and separately check any translation, calligraphy, background image, or other third-party material.
India’s Copyright Act recognizes performer’s rights and broadcast reproduction rights. Its official exceptions include limited wording concerning performance or communication during a bona fide religious ceremony; that wording does not establish that a continuous public YouTube playlist automatically qualifies. Do not treat religious subject matter or an intended devotional use as blanket permission for an online 24/7 stream.

- Obtain written permission covering live online streaming and the relevant territories.
- Check whether permission also covers archiving and monetization, if you plan to enable either.
- If the rights owner uses Content ID, ask them to allowlist your channel. YouTube says even licensed third-party content may be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. A match may trigger a warning or placeholder; leaving the material in place can interrupt or terminate the stream.

YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend testing with audio and movement similar to the real program, checking the preview and access from the channel or watch page and mobile devices, and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. For a playlist stream, test the complete loop and transitions as well as the initial start.

- Confirm every intended file plays and the playlist returns to the beginning when it ends.
- Check that audio remains audible and consistent through transitions, with no clipping or unintended silence.
- Check the visual in the preview and on a mobile device.
- Monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages during the test.
- For a locally hosted stream, check the computer’s thermals, available storage, power continuity, and network stability, as well as restart behavior.
These checks reduce avoidable failures; they do not guarantee uninterrupted multi-day operation. YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify an OBS configuration that guarantees 24/7 uptime.

Monetization is a separate question
A working stream setup does not establish that a continuous Quran recitation playlist qualifies for YouTube monetization or meets its reused-content rules. The reviewed official guidance does not settle that exact format. Check YouTube’s current channel monetization policies and your channel’s status before relying on revenue.
