For a simple guided meditation stream, build one OBS scene with a static image and your audio, then choose a stable resolution and bitrate your internet connection can sustain. In OBS, configure the stream key under Settings → Stream and the encoder, bitrate, and keyframe interval under Settings → Output. For YouTube RTMP/RTMPS, use H.264 with CBR and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Test the complete setup before leaving it unattended: these settings do not guarantee a computer or connection will stay live for 24 hours.
Build a lightweight OBS scene for meditation
Add the static background

Open OBS and create a scene for the meditation stream.

In the Sources panel, add an Image Source and select the background image. Fit it to the canvas so it fills the output frame without unintended borders or cropping.

Add the audio source that will carry the meditation. Confirm it is audible in the OBS audio mixer and that the meter does not remain in the clipping range. Listen to a test recording or private test stream; a moving meter alone does not confirm clean, correctly routed audio.

Keep the scene simple. OBS recommends Image Source for static image assets, and simpler scenes can use fewer resources. Avoid adding animated elements or extra sources unless they serve the program.
Run Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard (or the wizard available from OBS’s startup prompt) as a starting point for settings suited to your system and network. Set the stream destination and output
Connect OBS to YouTube

In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your channel.

In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect your account or enter the server and stream key as prompted. Do not share the key in screenshots, recordings, or public chat.

In OBS, open Settings → Output. Select an available encoder and configure the video bitrate. For YouTube RTMP/RTMPS, use H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds; YouTube recommends no more than four seconds.

Set the canvas and output resolution and frame rate under Settings → Video. Use a resolution viewers can access and your computer and connection can sustain rather than choosing the highest option by default.
Available encoders depend on the computer and operating system. Hardware encoding moves encoding work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component and can have low performance impact on modern hardware, but it is not available or best in every setup. Start with the wizard, then check OBS’s rendering and encoding performance during a real test. See OBS settings overview and OBS encoder guide.
Choose bitrate from YouTube guidance and your upload capacity
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists these H.264 figures for the stated output formats. They are platform recommendations, not universal OBS presets or guarantees that your connection can sustain the stream.

These figures are from YouTube Help’s encoder guidance accessed 2026-10-04. Measure your upload speed under conditions similar to the planned broadcast, and leave capacity for normal network variation and other household or office traffic. OBS gives 75% of total upload speed as a starting point when troubleshooting dropped frames; that is a troubleshooting guideline, not a substitute for YouTube’s ingest limits or a stable connection. Test reliability before leaving the stream unattended

Use Ethernet where possible. OBS recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi may be unstable; wired networking does not eliminate ISP, router, or route problems.

Test the exact scene, audio, encoder, resolution, and bitrate you plan to use. Check YouTube’s stream health and observe OBS’s dropped-frame, rendering, and encoding indicators.

Run an extended test on the intended computer and connection. A short successful test does not establish that a 24/7 run will remain uninterrupted.

Enable OBS automatic reconnect in the network settings and understand its limits: reconnecting can resume after some interruptions, but it cannot fix an unstable underlying connection.

OBS describes dynamic bitrate adjustment as a beta option. It can lower quality to cope with a connection that cannot sustain the configured bitrate; treat it as a fallback, not as a repair for network instability.

If continuity matters, save a local recording. OBS recommends MKV because an ungraceful stop does not corrupt the entire file, and YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Verify that the recording contains the intended picture and audio.

Plan around YouTube’s archive and DVR limits
A continuous 24-hour broadcast is not a safe way to promise viewers a complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Very long streams may also have limited or unavailable DVR rewind. If a complete replay matters, plan shorter sessions or maintain a verified local recording, and check the behavior for your channel before relying on a replay. OBS reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health is poor

Check whether upload capacity is stable, including other traffic on the network. Reduce the configured bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it.

Try a different ingest server if one is available in your stream settings. A different route may help when the current route is unstable.

Prefer Ethernet over Wi-Fi where practical, then retest the complete configuration.

The picture stutters while the network looks stable

Check OBS rendering and encoding performance. Reduce output resolution or frame rate, simplify the scene, or try an available hardware encoder, then test again.

Do not assume a hardware encoder is supported just because the computer has a GPU; the available options depend on the system and operating system.
The stream disconnects

Confirm the stream key and destination settings, then check OBS’s reconnect behavior and the internet connection. Automatic reconnect can help after a drop, but recurring disconnections require addressing the connection or system cause.
The image is live but meditation audio is missing or wrong

Check the selected audio source and OBS mixer, then listen to a test stream or recording. Confirm that the intended audio is routed to the stream and is not muted or being replaced by another source.
