Spoiler: the answer to the New York Times Wordle for March 12, 2024, puzzle #997, was HEAVE.
A hint before the answer
For a spoiler-light clue, Forbes contributor Erik Kain wrote: “You can do it, put your back into it.” He also noted that the answer begins with a consonant. Kain’s March 11, 2024 article gives the hint for the following day’s puzzle.
How one player solved Wordle #997
Kain described a personal sequence of guesses: SPOIL, CRANE, ADAGE, and finally HEAVE. He reported that SPOIL left 611 possible answers, CRANE reduced the count to 10, and ADAGE to three. These figures describe his reported play, not a general Wordle statistic.
Kain also wrote that WordleBot identified AGAVE as a better next guess after ADAGE; he chose HEAVE and solved the puzzle. This is one player’s account, not a required strategy.
