NYT Strands game #494 is the puzzle for Thursday, July 10, 2025. Its theme clue is “Nap time!” Start with the hints below; the complete answer list and spangram are behind a spoiler warning.
Hints for Strands #494
Use these clues progressively to preserve as much of the solve as you like:
- Look for the theme clue: “Nap time!”
- Finding the in-game clue words DECK, TIES, SWOT, WORK, SPRAY and GUIDE unlocks hints. Under the NYT-attributed rules reproduced by Parade, three non-theme words earn an in-game hint showing the letters of a theme word.
- The spangram has 10 letters.
- Its route touches the board’s left side at row four and the right side at row five.
- For first-letter help, this guide’s entries begin DR, SP, WE, FA, TI, KN; the spangram begins SL.
How Strands hints work
Players find theme words to fill the board. The spangram describes the theme, connects two opposite sides, and may contain two words. Letters can be dragged or tapped to form words; on a touchscreen, double-tap the final letter to submit. These mechanics are NYT-attributed rules reproduced by Parade.
