Spangram: TRICKTAKING.
What the theme means
“Follow suit” points to trick-taking card games, rather than a list of card suits. The answers name six games in that family; the spangram, TRICKTAKING, states the shared category. The puzzle author’s published solving account says they initially expected suit names such as diamonds and clubs, but those were not answers. An independent puzzle archive also records the same theme, spangram, and six words.
