The spangram is PENCILMEIN, read as “Pencil me in.” The other theme words are:

- ERASER
- REFILL
- GRAPHITE
- CEDARWOOD
- SHARPENER
The answer order can differ between guides, but these sources agree on the word set. Forbes’ guide independently confirms the theme and answers.
How the answers fit the theme
The words point to a traditional pencil and related supplies: graphite forms the core, cedarwood is used for the pencil body, an eraser removes marks, and a sharpener exposes a fresh point. A refill belongs to a mechanical pencil. Together, the terms make “The write stuff” a category clue rather than a phrase to complete.

How Strands hints work
Strands uses a 6-by-8 letter grid. Players find words connected by the day’s theme clue; theme words highlight blue, while the spangram connects opposite sides of the grid and highlights yellow. Parade’s guide says players earn a hint for every three non-theme words found; a hint reveals letters of a theme answer.
As Forbes reports, the New York Times describes possible theme patterns this way: “Some themes are fill-in-the-blank phrases. They may also be steps in a process, items that all belong to the same category, synonyms or homophones.” In this puzzle, the answers belong to the same broad category: pencil parts and supplies.
