Answers for October 15, 2025

The six theme words are OPEN, BASEMENT, CLOSE, LOBBY, ALARM, and GROUND. The spangram is ELEVATORBUTTONS.

Caroline Igo’s Yahoo Tech guide to the October 15 puzzle identifies the theme, clue, and answers. The source describes the spangram’s route only in part: it begins at the E in the last row, runs to the R and B in the first row, then down to the S in the seventh row. That route description is incomplete, so it does not establish the full path across the board.

How Strands hint progress works

In the source’s description of the game, finding a non-answer word of at least four letters advances hint progress; every three such words illuminate a hint. The guide suggests trying GOBBLE, SAME, LONE, BONE, BUTT, BOUT, STAT, TEEN, and LOBE. Using hints is reflected in the final score.

How to play NYT Strands

Strands uses a 6-by-8 letter grid. Connect letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to form words; every letter is used, and the spangram expresses the theme connecting the answers. The guide compares it to a word search. It also says players can play once per day, with the timer resetting at midnight.
