These are the hints and answers for the archived NYT Strands puzzle #257, published Friday, November 15, 2024. The theme is “Dress for Lunch,” and the spangram runs horizontally from left to right.
Hint for Strands #257
The theme points to leafy ingredients you might put in a fresh meal. Try finding greens that can form the base of a salad.
Spangram hint
The spangram describes the theme and crosses the board horizontally, from left to right. Its first word is a familiar lunch dish; its second names the leafy ingredients in that dish.
How Strands hints work
Find three words that are not part of the theme to earn a hint. The hint reveals letters from a theme answer; if a hint is already active, another hint gives the order of that word’s letters. Theme words do not overlap: found theme words turn blue, while the spangram turns yellow.
