How to play Strands spoiler-free
Strands asks you to find words in a letter grid that fit a theme. One answer, the spangram, describes that theme and touches opposite sides of the board. For this puzzle, the theme is “Horsing around.”

Think of jobs associated with horses.
First-two-letter cues
If you want a slightly stronger nudge, these starts are reported for the answers: JO, GR, WR, VE, FA and EQ. EQ begins the spangram.

Why the words fit the theme
The five theme words name horse-related jobs or roles: a farrier cares for horses’ hooves, a groom looks after them, a jockey rides in races, a veterinarian provides medical care, and a wrangler handles horses. EQUESTRIAN is the broader term connecting the set to horses and riding.
