Spangram: TAKING PAINS
The puzzle is identified as game #513. TAKING PAINS is an 11-letter phrase when the space is omitted; TechRadar reports that it runs from the top edge in column 2 to the bottom edge in column 3. TechRadar’s July 28 guide and Forbes’ July 28 guide give the same answer set.
How the Strands hints work
Strands is played on a 6-by-8 letter grid. Players find words connected by the puzzle’s theme, including a spangram that expresses the connection. Forbes reports that finding three valid words outside the theme unlocks a hint that highlights a theme word. The game is available on the NYT website and in the NYT Games app, according to Forbes’ guide.
