The spangram has 10 letters. TechRadar reports that it touches the top edge at column 1 and the bottom edge at column 6; Parade says its path moves horizontally and vertically.

How Strands hints and the spangram work

Parade’s account of the instructions from The New York Times says players select letters by dragging or tapping to find theme words that fill the board. The spangram is a theme-spanning answer that describes the theme and touches two opposite edges of the board. Parade also says every three non-theme words earns a hint that reveals letters of a theme word. These mechanics are described by Parade as NYT instructions; the live NYT Strands page was not available for independent confirmation.
