The NYT Strands answers for Thursday, January 30, 2025, are built around Robert Frost’s poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” The theme is “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” the spangram is FROSTPOEM, and the eight theme words are FROZEN, DARK, DEEP, BELLS, SHAKE, SLEEP, LOVELY, and LAKE.

NYT Strands answers for Thursday, January 30

This is Strands puzzle #333, published on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The year matters: January 30, 2026, fell on a Friday. Parade’s date-specific guide and Forbes’ guide report the same solution.

  • Theme: “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”
  • Spangram: FROSTPOEM
  • Theme words: FROZEN, DARK, DEEP, BELLS, SHAKE, SLEEP, LOVELY, LAKE

Why these words fit the theme

The theme names the Robert Frost poem, and the answer words come from its language. FROSTPOEM joins the poet’s surname with the type of work, pointing to the connection that ties the board together. Forbes reproduces the poem text alongside the answer list; Parade independently confirms the theme and all nine entries.

How Strands clues work

Strands asks players to find theme words that fill the board. Found theme words turn blue, and the spangram describes the theme while touching two opposite sides of the grid. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint. These mechanics are summarized in Parade’s guide, which attributes the instructions to The New York Times.
