Letter hints and spangram orientation
The theme words begin with MA, CA, DI, CL, CO, and FA. The spangram begins with FA. TechRadar reports that the 10-letter spangram runs from the top to the bottom of the board, starting and ending in the third column. Parade describes it as mostly vertical.
How Strands hints work
According to the New York Times instructions reproduced by Parade, players drag or tap letters to form words; when tapping, double-tap the last letter to submit. Theme words fill the board without overlapping, and the spangram describes the theme while touching two opposite sides. It may consist of two words. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint.
