The clue is “THE movies.” Look for films whose titles begin with the word “The.”
Spangram hint
The spangram has six letters. It touches the left edge at row five and the right edge at row four.
Words that can earn an in-game hint
TechRadar lists these non-theme words as qualifying hint words: FINE, GRIN, TRAIL, DIRT, HINGE, and FLAT. In Strands, finding three qualifying words earns a hint that reveals a theme word, according to game guides.

How the theme works
The theme answers are the parts that complete the names of six films beginning with “The.” The spangram, TITLES, describes what those answers have in common. The Economic Times reports the NYT spangram clue as “The name of a book, play, film, picture, etc.”
