Words to try for an in-game hint
Tom’s Guide suggested JOKER, NOTES, GIRL, RAKES, RANKS, and RIDES as guesses that can help earn clue tokens. These are helper guesses, not answers to the theme. In Strands, finding three unrelated words can earn a hint that highlights a theme word.

The spangram describes the theme and spans opposite sides of the grid. The six other entries are the regular theme words; together, the board has seven words.
How the puzzle’s theme fits together
Each answer names a comic or foolish character: a prankster, comic, clown, jester, fool, or buffoon. YOUREKIDDING ties those kinds of people to the clue, “Is this some kind of joke?”
Try Hard Guides published its answer page on August 14, 2024, and identifies the puzzle as the August 15 game. Tom’s Guide’s syndicated guide is labeled Thursday, August 15, 2024. Both guides agree on the date, theme, spangram, and six theme words.
