Here are the NYT Pips solutions for Wednesday, September 17, 2025, separated by Easy, Medium, and Hard. The placements are transcribed from Yahoo Tech and Forbes. The Hard section contains spoilers for the full solution.
How to read the placements
Pips is a digital domino-placement puzzle played through NYT Games. Place every domino on the board, rotating tiles as needed to satisfy the colored-region clues. A placement written “6-3 vertical” gives the domino values and its orientation in the solution guide.
- Number: The pips in the region must total the displayed number.
- Equal: All pips in the region must match.
- Not equal: The pips in the region must differ.
- Greater than or less than: The relevant pip or pips must be above or below the displayed number.
- Unmarked cells: These have no special condition.
Easy Pips answer
Yahoo Tech’s September 17 guide gives these Easy placements:
- Equal (5): 6-3 vertical; 5-1 horizontal.
- Number (9): 5-3 vertical; 3-0 vertical; 3-1 horizontal.
- Number (1): 3-1 horizontal; 3-0 vertical.
- Number (0): 3-0 vertical.
