Here are the reported hints and answers for the Easy, Medium, and Hard NYT Pips boards for Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The placements below come from a Mashable guide syndicated by Yahoo Tech; they have not been independently checked against an official New York Times board archive.
How to use these Pips hints
Pips is a single-player domino puzzle. Place dominoes in the grid so the pips inside each colored region satisfy its rule. A region may call for a specific total, matching values, different values, or a total above or below a threshold. A domino can cross a region boundary, so only the pips that fall inside a region count toward that region’s condition. Uncolored squares have no special region rule, and the touching ends of separate dominoes do not need to match.
The answers are grouped by constrained region, not given as a coordinate-by-coordinate board map. Each domino is written as its two pip counts; horizontal and vertical describe its placement direction. Tom’s Guide’s 2025 explainer says the game has Easy, Medium, and Hard choices, includes a tutorial, and lets players rotate dominoes and receive immediate feedback when a move breaks a rule.

If you use a visual solution, check that it is for the January 6, 2026 board and the correct difficulty.
