For the Tuesday, December 2, 2025 NYT Pips puzzle, the published Hard walkthrough is below. This page also gives the clue sets for Easy and Medium, but not tile-by-tile layouts for those tiers: their solution boards appear as diagrams in the linked sources, and their placements cannot be reliably reconstructed from the extracted clues alone. Spoilers follow.
December 2, 2025 Pips clues at a glance
Pips is a domino-placement logic puzzle. Use every available domino to fill the grid while meeting the conditions shown in its colored regions. Unmarked cells have no special numerical condition. A domino that crosses between regions must satisfy the rule in each region for the half placed there. The clue symbols can require an exact total, equal values, all different values, or values above or below a threshold.

Hard answer: published tile-placement walkthrough
The following is the arrangement described in Forbes’s walkthrough, not a claim that it is the only valid solution. Forbes notes that some Pips boards can have more than one valid arrangement.
- Place 6/2 from Dark Blue 12 into Green =, 6/1 from Dark Blue 12 into Blue <6, and 6/6 from Orange >10 into Blue >1.
- Put 2/2 in the middle Green equal cells, then place 2/0 from Green = into Pink 0.
- Place 2/4 in Dark Blue =; that region still needs values carried across from above.
- Place 3/0 from the left Purple = group into Pink <3, then put 3/4 below it, crossing from Purple = into Dark Blue =.
- Complete Dark Blue = with 4/0 into Pink 0, then place 0/0 below it to complete Pink 0.
- Place 5/1 from Orange >10 into Purple =. Put 1/0 in the second Purple = cell and first unrestricted cell, then place 5/3 from Orange >4 in the remaining unrestricted cell.
