Why 1-Across is spelled WAWA
The reported puzzle entry is WAWA, not WAHWAH. Some readers objected to that spelling after publication; the familiar rendering of the guitar effect is “wah-wah” or “wahwah.” The spelling dispute is documented in a later retrospective, not as an official New York Times correction. GoKawiil’s retrospective discusses the reaction.
Which June 25 puzzle is this?
This is the Wednesday, June 25, 2025 edition. The year is omitted in the headline, but Forbes published its guide on June 24, 2025, and AOL’s republication of Parade’s guide labels the puzzle June 25, 2025. June 25, 2026 was a Thursday. The complete clues and answers match across both guides: Forbes and AOL’s Parade guide.
Playing the Mini and finding older puzzles
Parade’s guide, republished by AOL, says the current Mini can be played free on the New York Times website or in the NYT Games app, while earlier puzzles in the archive require an NYT Games subscription. That is the guide’s access information, not a current subscription-price claim. See the guide’s access details.
