A clue pair worth noticing
The similar-sounding clues “A little horse” and “A little hoarse” have different answers: FOAL and RASPY. The dated answer list was published by Forbes on May 5, 2025; the official NYT Help Center page explains the Mini’s gameplay and access options, but does not verify this specific grid.
How the Mini works and when it appears
The New York Times describes the Mini as a smaller version of its crossword. Fill the white squares with letters that make words or phrases matching the Across and Down clues; crossing answers help check one another. NYT says weekday and Saturday Minis become available at 10 p.m. EST the previous day, while Sunday’s appears at 6 p.m. EST Saturday. The Tuesday, May 6 puzzle therefore became available the prior evening under that schedule.
NYT Help Center documentation also describes in-game Check and Reveal assistance. The page says qualifying subscribers can access archived Minis; consult the official Mini Crossword help page for current access details.
