Why 1-Across and 8-Across go together
The first Across clue is split between 1-Across and 8-Across. Put CAPS in 1-Across and LOCK in 8-Across to read CAPS LOCK, the keyboard key left on while the puzzle was being made. The crossing entries support the remaining fills, including IRON for the retired Monopoly token.
Where to play the Mini
The New York Times Help Center says the Mini is available to anyone with a New York Times account. You can access it at nytimes.com/games, in the NYT Games app, or through the Play tab in the NYT News app. Games and All Access subscribers can solve past Mini puzzles from the archive; check the Help Center page for current access details.
