Hints for the October 10 Mini
- 1A and 8A: Think of a phrase for disconnecting from electricity, then remove its last letter.
- 5A: The island named in Puerto Rico.
- 6A: The portion of a medical bill an insured patient pays.
- 7A: Complete the Brazilian city name that begins “São.”
- 3D: A poker response to another player saying “All in.”
How the wordplay works
8A is UNPLU, a shortened form of “unplug.” Its missing final G has gone off the GRID, the answer to 1A. That makes the paired entries a literal version of the clue’s wordplay, rather than a typo.
