The words can invite competing interpretations, so confirm that all four entries in a proposed set share the same relationship. Here the categories distinguish places, boxing terms, words for showiness, and emoji names. Connections asks players to sort sixteen words into four groups of four, using semantic knowledge and abstract reasoning.
Reactions to a category are personal rather than a measure of the puzzle’s overall difficulty. One Reddit participant remarked, “I think it’s interesting that most are complaining about the ’emojis’ category since it was the first connection I made.” That is one player’s experience, not a survey of solvers.
