NYT Connections Sports Edition puzzle #409 is the board for Thursday, November 6, 2025. Its four groups connect throwing events, football running plays, fantasy sports apps, and NBA players who attended Kentucky. Spoiler-safe clues are below before the full answer key.

How Connections Sports Edition works

Connections Sports Edition presents 16 sports-related words for you to sort into four groups of four. The game resets at midnight Eastern, according to Parade’s November 6, 2025 guide, which describes the puzzle as a partnership between The New York Times and The Athletic. The NYT site’s instruction is to “group sports terms that share a common thread.”

Hints for November 6, 2025

Try to identify the connection in each group before opening the answer key.

  • Yellow: Toss it!
  • Green: Take off with the pigskin.
  • Blue: Are you in a league?
  • Purple: Pro Wildcats.

Connections #409 answers

The four categories and their words are:

  • Yellow — Throwing events: DISCUS, HAMMER, JAVELIN, SHOT PUT.
  • Green — Football running plays: COUNTER, DRAW, SWEEP, TOSS.
  • Blue — Fantasy sports apps: ESPN, FANTRAX, SLEEPER, YAHOO.
  • Purple — Kentucky basketball alumni in the NBA: FOX, MONK, QUICKLEY, TOWNS.
