NYT Connections Sports Edition puzzle #152 is dated February 22, 2025. The board has 16 terms to sort into four groups of four. Hints appear below first; the category names and full solutions follow, so you can stop before the spoilers.

Use these clues to look for the four shared threads without seeing the answers:
- Yellow: Words describing someone just starting out, like a rookie.
- Green: Something to avoid in baseball.
- Blue: The words are related to a particular team.
- Purple: The words are associated with a type of city that typically houses state government offices.
How to approach the board
As the NYT game instruction puts it, the goal is to “group sports terms that share a common thread.” Try matching words by meaning first, then check whether a sports-specific interpretation creates a tighter set of four. Some terms can plausibly fit more than one idea, so look for a complete group rather than locking in the first connection you notice.
