Purple TRADEMARKS OF A PLATYPUS BILL, EGG, FUR, VENOM

Why the purple group is a platypus clue

How the game and archive work

Connections presents 16 words and asks players to find four groups of four that share a connection. The New York Times Help Center explains that each group has a color: yellow is the easiest and purple the trickiest. The daily game releases at midnight in the player’s timezone, not at one universal UTC time. See the NYT Help Center’s Connections guide.

The May 9, 2024 puzzle is in the Connections archive. The Help Center says the archive is available to All Access and Games subscribers, contains puzzles dating back to June 12, 2023, and requires a NYT account to track archive progress. Playing archived puzzles does not affect streaks. Check the official archive details before replaying.
