Need a nudge without seeing the solution? Start with the spoiler-light clues below. The complete groups and all 16 answers are farther down, behind a clear spoiler warning. TechRadar and Parade both identify this date’s puzzle as NYT Connections #935.

Spoiler-light hints for each group

Try these clues before revealing the category names. They move from a short prompt to a more direct hint.

  1. Yellow: Abracadabra!
  2. Green: Husk is another word for this.
  3. Blue: Big fan.
  4. Purple: Not margarine.

For a little more direction, the categories concern what witches and wizards do, an outer casing, types of fan, and a spreadable word that precedes each answer. These clues are reported by TechRadar and Parade.

Why some words can mislead

Several tiles seem to fit more than one idea at first. NUT can evoke a shell, but it also completes “butternut.” RAT, HOUND, HEAD, and BUFF can each pair with a subject to describe an enthusiast. In TechRadar’s account, its writer tried NUT in two groups and got a “one away” response before switching to FLY to complete the blue group; that is the writer’s reported solving experience, not a universal outcome for players.
